#HRTailgate Preview: Employee Benefits Game Plan


Smart business owners understand that today’s top talent looks for more from companies than a mere job and paycheck. But selecting the right combination and level of benefits for your employees can be overwhelming, not to mention the fact that many plans are expensive and difficult to administer. One of the most frequently asked questions we hear from our clients is: “How can I save money on benefits for my business?” Thankfully, we’ve teamed up with benefits industry experts to answer your questions during our second HR Tailgate Twitter chat on December 10 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. CST.

If you’ve never been involved in a Twitter chat, you’ll be surprised at how simple it is to participate. A Twitter chat is a live conversation focused on a topic — in this case, employee benefits. The chat is guided by 9 questions; chat participants can engage in dialogue with chat hosts and other chat participants by answering the questions and using the hashtag #HRTailgate.   1. Do you have a wellness program in place, and, if so, what difference has that made to your benefits program?
  1. What do you feel improves employee retention more, a high salary or a strong benefits plan? 
  1. How does benefits education and communication reduce costs?
  1. How can businesses best evaluate their benefits programs’ cost effectiveness?
  1. What are costly errors often made in business’ benefits programs?
  1. Which employee benefits do you feel are most effective in retaining talent? 
  1. What key trends are you seeing in benefits that will affect what employers will offer in the next 5 years? 
  1. How do generational differences contribute to the popularity of particular benefits options?
